No More Rough, Dry Feet
More than being unattractive to look at, feet which are rough and dry can often prove to be quite painful. This is especially true in cases where you want to wear open sandals or flip flops, which can make your feet more exposed to the external conditions and thereby more prone to come in contact with the dirt that surrounds the ground. This can cause friction between the layers of the skin on your feet and accentuate the roughness of the external layer of the skin of the feet.
One of the first processes that you should maintain if you want relief from dry or rough feet is the process of exfoliation. The process of exfoliation helps to remove the dead dry skin which accumulates on the surface level of the skin and creates the feel of roughness. It also provides an extremely dull look to the skin and makes it dry. It is imperative that you remove this dull layer.
The process of exfoliation can be easily done and at home without visiting a foot spa or a parlor. Just heat up some water and pour this in a tub. Mix a teaspoon full of soothing foot soak solution in this and make up a whole lot of foam. Keep this aside. Next take a clean pumice stone or a foot exfoliater and gently rub the areas of the foot which are especially prone to being dry and rough. Now dip your foot in the pre-mixed solution that we had prepared and clean all the areas gently with the soapy bubbles and a soft brush. You can also use a tooth brush for the purpose.
Remove the feet from the soap solution and wash with clean water to take out the soap. This step is very important as it also removes the dirt completely from your foot. Now with a soft, clean towel pat dry your foot. We will next need to moisturize the feet to remove the dryness. For this you can choose any essential herbal oil such as lavender which is known to have soothing properties or good old Vaseline. Apply generous amounts on your feet and cover for some time with a pair of cotton socks.
Repeat the process every week. For best result you can also apply a moisturizer on your feet every night before going to bed for those perfect pair of salon feet!
