Planning A Sleepover Party

Sleepover parties are fun and excitement for children of all age groups. Such parties create memories that last forever as children have tons of fun with their friends. Nonetheless organizing a sleepover party can be quite a challenging task for the parents.

While planning for a sleepover party, it is advisable to go through the checklist given below and ensure that the party is fun for both the kids and their parents.

The foremost thing to decide is to fix a number of people you want to invite. While picking a number, consider the amount of space available for putting sleeping bags. Usually, eight to ten people are enough for a sleepover party. Inviting more number of people will make it crowded and difficult to manage. Decide on the timings of the party and try to keep it short. Let the kids come over to your place before their evening meal and leave for their home on the next day before afternoon.

Arrange for all the essentials before the party which include dietary prescriptions, medications if any, contact numbers of parents of all kids, list of allergies to food items, etc. Get the other basic things that will be required like sleeping bags, pillows, etc. Ask the parents of the kids to pack the necessary items including clothes, hairbrush toothbrush, etc in their kids’ backpack.

Though sleepover parties are supposed to be fun for kids, a strict vigilance is required on the part of the parents to ensure that nothing goes out of hand. When all the kids have assembled together lay down the basic rules like no one will leave the house or make crank calls, etc. Set down time limits for turning off the lights and going to bed. However be nice to all kids so that they can turn to you when faced with anxiety due to homesickness, or fear of dark or bed wetting, etc.

Play a non-scary movie before going to bed to allow the kids to wind down. If a child feels sick or too uneasy, do not hesitate in calling up the child’s parents. Despite your ground rules and instructions, the kids will still stay up till late. Don’t stress about it as the kids will doze off eventually. Let the kids have fun and make pleasant memories form this experience.
