Numerous changes come in the life of an expectant mother. For a healthy child birth all the changes and the needed must be met. Massage during pregnancy works therapeutically. The massage is meant to meet the special needs in this crucial period. Through massage the muscles and joints function in better way, the entire body is toned up and the blood flow is improved. Fatigue and mental stress gets alleviated too. But before getting one done its better to ask your doctor and then have the pregnancy massage.

The mother gets an extra edge of cherishing and touching emotions which is much needed to the expectant mothers and the baby in the womb. The process is relaxing and improves sleep patterns in pregnancy. Due to over bearing of weight in ankles, legs, and pelvis much of the stress gets eased out. The neck pain and calf cramp gets alleviated.

When you should not have pregnancy massage?
If the lady suffers from any of these conditions then it is not recommended to have massage. The conditions include diarrhea, diabetes, pain in abdomen, vomiting, fever, morning sickness, high BP, pre-eclampsia, unusual discharge, contagious illness etc.

Where to avoid the massage?
Places that have inflammation, open sores, skin rashes, infections, bruises or distended varicose veins should not be massaged.

Precautions for massage therapy-
Only after the approval of your doctor you can go for a pregnancy massage. The person who will be doing should be well acquainted with the different massage techniques that are done in the different trimester of pregnancy. See that the oil that is being used is not aromatic. In case of any discomfort stop immediately and take it to the notice of your doctor. The massage can be done for15-45 min; it all depends on the mothers comfort zone. It’s better to consult about the frequency of the massages.
