Prickly Heat

With the arrival of summer prickly heat becomes a common problem, especially in the places that have relatively high temperatures. Sunburn and prickly heat are the common problems of hot weather. Prickly heat occurs with the blockage of the sweat glands. The spots become itchier and can become a matter of discomfort too.

One of the major reasons is the over exposure to the sun and insufficient or inadequate protection or head gear. When the skin gets exposed to the harmful UV rays for more than 15 mins, then it can lead to prickly heat. One can see it in the form of tiny blisters, spreading over the arms, neck and back. One can also find redness on the skin. The best way is to wear natural fiber clothes like cotton. See that the skin breathes and you are also not wearing too tight fitted clothes.

Prevention-
While going out see that you have applied cream or lotion with minimum SPF 15. This should be applied at least 30 min before stepping out in the sun. And if you intend to stay for longer hrs, see that you reapply on the sun exposed area. Protect the skin with protection or head gears like scarf, hat etc. drink plenty of water and cooling fluids to keep the inside also cool. The perspiration needs to be wiped off with clean tissues or towel. Try to keep the skin dry.

Home remedies:-

Make use of cold compress to release the heat from the skin and ease the skin condition. Immediately change the clothes and wear loose fitted clothes made of natural fiber. Make use of um-perfumed powder with camphor so as to relive the skin. Do not use greasy moisturizers, they will increase the blister formation and the condition can worsen. Keep the affected area clean and tidy. One can make us of aloe Vera as it has all the anti-inflammatory properties. Lavender and chamomile oils are safe and can be used on children too.

And finally try to keep the body cool in natural way with water, fluids and cooling fruits and vegetables.
