Reasons Why You Can’t be Friends with Your Ex
Are you intending to be friends with your ex? Are you one of those many men who said “let’s be friends” at the time of break-up? Well then, you must have certain things clear in your mind before you realize that no matter how much you try, you will eventually head to nowhere. Being friends with your ex might just be a way of holding on to the relationship for a bit longer but it doesn’t work in the long run. We tell you why. Read on to discover more on this sensitive topic.
One major reason because of which the idea of being friends with your ex doesn’t work is, the very fact that one partner still holds on to the relationship. No matter how much you pretend to be friends, some feelings still remain fresh. You might just deny being in love anymore but somewhere deep down the heart you feel it. It can be in case of your partner as well. This never lets friendship brew. You or your partner will try to mend things again. If one person is reluctant to do so, the other one invariably ends up being hurt.
Another reason as too why the idea of being friends with your ex doesn’t work, is that couples usually end up getting physically involved, it is easy to get intimate with your ex and this very fact worsens the situation. Getting physically involved brings with it a lot of attachment. You might just feel more attached emotionally than you thought you would be, when you intended to be just so-called friends. It is sometimes one-sided. You partner might not feel that way. It might just be fun for him/her.
Jealousy creeps in, once you start liking someone else. When you intended to be friends, you had the right to like someone else. But this fact holds no value once the other partner starts feeling jealous. This jealousy will eventually be the cause of total wreck of the relationship.
So the idea of being friends with your ex isn’t a pretty good one. If you intend to come out of a relationship, do that totally. Don’t keep any strings attached. We wish you all the best!
