Risk Factors Associated with Brain Tumor
Some of the risk factors associated with brain tumor are discussed as under:-
Age- brain tumor can occur to any body at any age. But statistics reveal that tumor of brain is more seen in older people above age group of 60-65. Also kids below age group of 8 are more vulnerable to tumor of the brain. The tumor of the central nervous system has become more common in kids.
Environmental hazards- another risk factor of brain tumor is exposure to radiation treatment of ions. It also have been found that people who are in frequent contact with certain kinds of chemicals like oil refining, rubber industries, chemical and nuclear industries have more chances of developing brain tumor. In the similar way the electromagnetic fields that are produced from the usage of the cell phones are also one of the causes of brain tumors. But definite medical evidence still needs to be found.
Ailments connected with brain tumors- von Recklinghausen’s disease is also known as the neurofibromatosis type 1. It is believed to be the most common inherited cause of tumor of the brain and the spinal cord. The disorder is linked with the optic Gliomas or other Gliomas of the brain. Neurofibromatosis type 2 is another kind of brain tumor, but it is less common than von Recklinghausen’s disease.
Complications that can arise in brain tumor-
Brain tumors can be extremely dangerous and serious. A non-cancerous tumor is capable of doing much harm as it grows and starts pressing the other tissues of the brain. Tumors of brain can lead to seizures, mood swings, change in personality and emotional changes, mental changes etc. It can take toll on the patient as well as on the close associates. Various treatments are available to ease the complications.
We all know that the brain is divided into different parts and each part is responsible for its own function. The size and they location of the tumor can lead to damage in the brain. The damage can be either permanent or temporary.
