Sexually Transmitted Diseases

The disease which can pass from one person to another during sex is known as sexually transmitted disease or STD. It is one of the most common problems and the way it is raising very soon it will be the next global epidemic. In fact, except for a few, all STD’s can be contracted only after having vagina, anus or oral sex.

There are more than thirty types of sexually transmitted diseases. Some of them are not curable. You can only control them. Best would be to prevent them by taking proper precaution. STD’s are highly infectious and can be transmitted even during foreplay. Some of the common STD’s are AIDS, crabs, herpes, syphills, Gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, scabies, hepatitis B and C.

STD’s are more common in teens as they are more active sexually with multiple partners and are less aware. However, men and women form all backgrounds can be affected but it creates more problems in women than men. You must see a doctor if you find any of the following symptoms.

There is itching around the vagina or discharge from the vagina or penis, pain during sex or while passing urine, sore throat who have oral sex or painless sores in and around the genital area, anus, tongue or throat. Swollen glands, fever and body aches.

A physical examination, papsmear and tests of blood, urine, genital and anal secretions are done to detect the problem. The course of treatment is decided according to the type of STD you are infected with.

Try to avoid having multiple sexual partners, always use a condom, especially when you are having sex with a new partner. Another thing which is very important is that if you are suffering with the problem or think you have got infected seek medical advice to avoid spreading the illness.
