Silent Killer Diseases
There are certain diseases which are known as silent killers. The reason for there being a silent killer is that you don’t feel and see any symptom until it is too late. Only way to protect yourself is early detection and diagnosis. Although there are many killer diseases but hyper tension, heart disease, diabetes, stress and high cholesterol are major silent killer diseases.
Hyper-tension, also known as blood pressure is not a disease in itself but it puts pressure on heart and kidney and can damage them beyond repair if left unchecked. Symptoms of high blood pressure are so mild that most of the time they go unnoticed. Usually it cannot be cured but with lifestyle changes and medication it can be controlled.
Heart disease is another biggest killer. The symptoms are not as readily recognizable; especially in women which can cause serious consequences. One fourth of heart attacks suffered by men and women are unsuspected and usually fatal. Although the good thing is that heart disease happen over the years and regular checkups can help prevent it.
High cholesterol is another popular killer. It is silent as it does not have any noticeable symptoms. Regular medical examination is vital to avoid risks and complications later on.
Diabetes may lye dormant for several years before being detected. Even after diagnosis people don’t take it seriously. As such diabetes is not a killer but high levels of sugar can trigger the onset of other serious conditions such as- stroke, blindness, kidney failure, heart disease and pneumonia.
Today stress is one of the major silent killers. 99% of all diseases are caused by stress. Natural processes are affected by stress. It can make your body age. Stress also stimulates the body to release more sugar and depresses the immune system causing our body to be prone to infections.
