Skin Allergies In Children?

Skin allergies in kids often occur in a succeeding manner. It could be a reaction towards a matter or it can get triggered by physical contact, it could be due to pets and may happen due to sudden flow of air with the freely suspended radicals in it. A kid that is allergic may be prone to allergy for more than one substance.

The reasons-
Experts opine that since kids are in constant contact with many things it becomes difficult to determine the cause of allergy especially among the kids. Skin allergy mainly results when the immune system of the body finds a matter or material as allergen and it is harmful for that body. Some of the other reasons could be due to cosmetics, perfumes, fabric, hair products, soaps etc.

Symptoms associated with allergy-
Some of the most common symptoms of allergic reactions among children are, development of rashes on skin, the skin turns red, blisters may develop, the effected area swells up, the skin may peel or crack.

Types of skin allergies in kids:-

Eczema- such cases needs the able consultation of doctors. The skin turns red and the area itches.

Allergic contact dermatitis- red rashes are associated with it. The skin itches. The skin should not be scratched.

Hives- this allergy develops in a circular fashion. Slight inflammation, redness and itchiness results in hive. The hives can be of different sizes and are usually harmless.

Treatment and prevention-
Creams and ointments are used for the treatment of the allergies. In some cases benadryl is advised and can be used for kids of age 12 years and above. “Prevention is better than cure”. Perfumed toiletries should not be used. They may be harmful and may trigger allergies. The moisturizer should be mild and should nourish the skin. It is better to keep a note of the things to which the kid is allergic to. This becomes easy to take actions immediately in case of emergency. Remember under extreme conditions avoid self medication and immediately seek the dermatologists help.
