Skin Irritation: Causes And Remedies

Skin irritation is the inflammation of the skin that almost every individual goes through at some point in their lives. The term ‘Skin irritation’ encompasses a variety of skin problems such as rashes, lesions, redness, itching sensation, thickening of the skin, cracked skin etc.

The effect they have on each person is unique to them. On some it may be way too much while, on some it may be quite mild. The causes of skin irritation range from a variety of factors like a deficiency in certain vitamins and minerals. An exposure the sun or certain chemicals, dyes, detergents, perfumes, synthetic fabrics etc too can result in irritation of the skin. Another factor that causes skin irritation is any allergy or infection caused due to some bacteria or insect bites.

Hormonal fluctuations and stress may also lead to skin irritation in some individuals. Not far behind are some skin infection like eczema and Lyme. Certain plants which have irritant properties and extreme climatic conditions like extreme heat or extreme cold can affect your skin.

The determination of the cause of the skin cancer is essential for treating it. The following remedies would be useful in curing skin irritation. In case if your skin has begun irritating due to the use of a new soap or perfume or detergent, its best to stop using it. If possible use a soap which is free of perfume.

Honey is very useful in treating skin rashes. Its anti-bacterial properties can help in effectively reducing the burning sensation you experience. Make sure that the amount of time you spend on your baths is not quite long and the water should be warm and not hot as these could further aggravate the condition. Moisturize your skin regularly especially with a moisturizer that is oil free. Creams with zinc oxide can help you with this.

Wash the affected area with water and soap and make sure you never scratch it as it may lead to more troubles for you. An ice pack would help in relieving the skin that is inflamed. You could even try a cold water wrap i.e. rinse a cloth with cold water and wrap it around your face. If you have experienced sun burn – its best you avoid the sun for a few days.
