Social and psychological stress can trigger and aggravate a variety of bodily disorders including asthma, back ache, coronary heart disease, eczema, ulcers, hypertension, diabetes, cramped muscles etc.

Stress and worry can increase the production of cristol hormones, which stimulate the release of digestive juices. Excess of these juices can cause upset stomach. Using anti anxiety medication with stress reliving exercises like yoga, meditation etc, can help a lot. It has been seen that people who are in stressful condition often get an attack of asthma. Students before their exams or who are teased too much get splitting headaches.

Skin is another part which is very sensitive to emotional stress. Often we see the color of our face changing with our emotions. Too much of stress can cause acne, atepic dermatitis or hives. Although skin diseases are not life threatening but can cause a lot of damage to the victims self confidence.

We usually see that when we are scared or tense our heart beat also increases but if we are calm our use is regular. Stress makes the blood vessels constricted, which makes the heart pump harder, with increase of pulse, the blood pressure also mounts.

Often psychological symptoms become physiological symptoms. Usually such symptoms are mild and fleeting but if they keep coming on regular basis they can cause permanent damage.  These physical symptoms are not imaginary or fake and also respond to medication. Such mind body problems are known as psycho somatic disorder.

Doctors are realizing the importance of mind over body and try to deal with the person taking all the factors into consideration, this helps in understanding the illness better. People with psycho somatic disorder need a lot of support from family and friends. It is very important for the patient to have an understanding doctor.
