Weight training is a very important part of any fitness routine. Due to ignorance and improper knowledge most of the people are in the dark about it. Here are discussed some of the myths that are associated with weight training.
Myth 1- weight training can cause the muscles to bulge up.
Fact- most of the experts opine that, weight training is basically of two types- one is for body building and the other one is for regular type of fitness. Both these have different kinds of approaches. For building body it involves the usage of heavier weights with few repetitions and the diet followed should be protein rich diet. However weight training for regular fitness, tones up the entire body. It strengthens to the core and makes the body more flexible.
Myth 2- women should avoid weights as they will bulk up like men.
Fact- the fact is that women have more estrogen levels, this restricts their body from bulking up. Because of this most of the women shy away from weight training sessions. But it is good especially for women over 35 yrs of age. It also helps them osteoporosis, arthritis, etc.
Myth 3- once the weight training is stopped the body puts on weight.
Fact- this is applicable for any kind of fitness plan. It is because when you exercise the body remains firm. When any changes it brought suddenly in the body it will lead the body to accumulate fat.
Myth 4- consumption of non-vegetarian food will give more strength.
Fact- it is true that animal protein is richer. But even for vegetations weight training should not be many problems as they can compensate the various kinds of stuff from the wide variety of the vegetarian food too. One can seek the help of dietician for this.
Myth 5- a person will burn more fat if he/she does aerobic and weight training the same day.
Fact- but the fact is that any weight training session that is done for more than 20 minutes should not be combined with any cardio session. Cardio is also an important form of exercise. But everything in moderation and balance is must. Do stretch properly after a weight training session.
