Some Tips For Alleviating Heartburn

Heart burn is a condition that leads to burning sensation in the esophagus. It is basically acidic indigestion. This happens when the acids in the stomach back up into the food pipe (esophagus); the main reason could be overeating. It is also common in pregnant mothers and obese people. Sometimes, due to increase in the pressure in the abdomen acidity results.

Why heartburn happens?
Consumption of spicy food, acidic and fatty foods, smoking and even intake of alcohol can lead to heartburn. Some times the excess medications also results in acidity in stomach and heartburn. If the tribulation persists every now and then, can lead to other grave problems. It is a problem that is rampant and very common too. Frequent occurrence may lead to ulcers, bleeding and scarring in the esophagus. Most of the people try self medication to ease the problem.

Prevention and some measures to ease heartburn:-
See that you body weight is ideal with respect to the shape, size and height of the body. Food that can trigger the problem should be avoided. Foods that have high content in fats and oils should be cut. It is always good to take 4-5 small meals a day instead of 3 large regular meals. The body should get adequate rest. Avoid eating before workout. Take plenty of rest and give up smoking. Cut down the intake of caffeinated products and alcohol.

What are the home remedies for heartburn?
One can consume a glass of water mixed with one tsp of baking soda to ease the condition. Immediately lying after meals should be avoided. Avoid wearing tight clothes. For faster relief one can take ginger tea or even may take ginger root capsules. Aromatic herbs tea like catnip and fennel will be good. One can also practice stress reductions techniques.
