Staying Safe From AIDS-I

HIV stands for Human Immuno Deficiency Virus. The HIV bothers the CD4 cells of the blood. These CD4 cells are also known as helper cells that help the body to fight against other diseases. This virus is capable of destroying the immune system of the body. With the destruction of these cells in the body the body defense system gets weakened. The body gets easily vulnerable to other outer influences and diseases and infections.  When other conditions develop with the loss of CD4 cells the person is said to have AIDS or Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome.

How AIDS gets transmitted?

HIV can spread with blood transfusion, semen, and other fluids of the body of an infected person. But HIV doesn’t spreads through the saliva. In most of the cases HIV gets transmitted due to sex. A woman can contract this when she comes in contact with a man suffering from HIV and vice versa. In case the protection that is used in form of condom is not used properly then also this may get transmitted.

HIV infections can also happen when the needles are not properly sterilized. When common needles are shared between two and more people the also the chances of infection increases.

Some of the myth that is associated with HIV is it is transmitted with casual contacts like, hugging, shaking or holding hands, sharing common clothes or toilets etc. this is however not true.

Take care and avoid taking drugs and alcohol, before or while doing sexual activity. By avoiding it you are protecting yourself from falling in trap of lowered inhibitions, conscience loss, weakening of judgment etc.

The infection of HIV is akin in the male and the female. An HIV person’s immunity system becomes gradually weak. The body gets more vulnerable to infections and can easily get other ailments. But and HIV infected women has to face yeast infections in the vagina or other kind of pelvic inflammatory disease. Other ailments of the cervix, cancer can also rapidly progress.
