Hay fever is also known as allergic rhinitis. Infants and children frequently suffer from this problem. Hay fever is a condition that exhibits signs and symptoms alike a cold. The most common symptoms of hay fever are watery eyes, itchy nose, sneezing, itchy throat, and runny or blocked nose. It may also exhibit some severe symptoms that may include headaches, sweats, spreading of itchiness from throat to the ears and nose, and loss of taste and smell. Blocked sinuses may cause facial pain too.

Your baby goes through a horrible experience at the time of nasal congestion. At such times your baby can get air supply only through the mouth. This makes drinking and eating difficult for your baby. So try to alleviate your baby’s problem as soon as possible because breathing and eating at the same time through the mouth can prove to be dangerous.

Hay fever is mainly prevalent during the months of April and May due to the presence of excessive pollens. It is also very common in July as well as the months of autumn. So if your baby is allergic he/she may experience the symptoms of hay fever during these specific months.

Dust and dust mites, pet hair and dander of human beings and animals can trigger hay fever symptoms anytime of the year. Try to keep away all the factors that could trigger hay fever symptoms in your baby and see your baby’s doctor when he/she is affected with hay fever.
