Teenage Eating Disorders
Most of us in our life time suffer from this kind of disorder. But eating disorder is rampant and quite commonly noticed among the teenagers. Especially among the young girls and boys with the commencement of puberty and hormonal changes the bodily structure also develops and grows. They are so obsessed about their figure and looks, that they follow improper eating habits and track improper diet schedule.
These kids are as young as 11-15. In some these changes begin as early, at the age of 8, the change in daily lives and vital organs also results in fluctuations in their weight. Such problems and changes can be noticed more in girls than in boys. The kids also abstain from telling their problems with their parents.
Types of eating disorders:-
Food eating disorders can be distinguished into two types, the first one is Anorexia Nervosa and the second one is Bulimia.
In the former case, the teens shun to take proper quantities of food in their diet as they are scared that they would gain weight. Hence, they shun from taking good balanced food and often stick with crash dieting or following other kinds of dieting patterns. Under extreme conditions they even start taking pills and laxatives in order to loose weight.
However, in the later case this kind of disorder the child eats more than required quantity of food. The frequency of food intake is more and such kids are usually at the higher side of the weighing scale. The kids after eating tend to throw up or even consume laxatives to throw up. Such kids try to hide their eating disorders.
Symptoms of eating disorders among the teenagers:-
The kids are usually obsessed of gaining weight and they take improper medicines that keep them away from gaining weight. They usually tend to throw up after the consumption of meals. They either lie of eating excessively so as to avoid eating. Symptoms of fainting, irregular periods, scars near the knuckles, hiding tendencies especially about their food habits can also be observed.
