The Effects Of Verbal Abuse In Dating

Relationships should be made from heart and bound by soul. When two people come together for a relationship, they start to know each other by spending time together. This is formally known as dating.

When a couple begins to date together, it means that they are still in the primary stage of their relationship. This dating stage is a very important one for any relation. It is undoubtedly the most vital time when the pair gets to understand each other. They get to know about all the small and big things associated with their respective partner. This helps in finding out the likes and dislikes of each other and helps in knowing each other more deeply.

For a lifelong relationship it is very important to develop a mutual trust and understanding. It is important to ensure whether both the partners are compatible with each other or not. This would ease the process of decision making. It would help to know whether the respective partner is worth enough to spend the life together. This is the most crucial thing in any relation. It is really an important task to decide whether the person is worth enough and fits in to share a lifetime.

When a verbal abuse is witnessed in this phase, the love relationship comes to a stake. The stability of the relationship is highly disturbed and it might so happen that the eternal bond of love gets broken. Verbal abuse is very challenging for an individual. It is very depressing at times too. It often leads to misunderstanding between the respective couple. Verbal abuse is linked with physical as well as emotional disturbance to an individual who is affected by it.

Basics of a Verbal Abuse

Verbal abuse in a love relation falls under dating abuse. A dating abuse is a way of enforcing control and superiority of one partner over the other. It is referred to as a kind of behavior intentionally brought into practice to gain power by one of the partner over the other. A person who is quite often abused loses the control over oneself. It becomes a real hectic task to reinforce the lost confidence in the affected person. The physical as well as the mental stability gets to fade off. A person under these set of circumstances is bound to enter a continuous state of ‘uncertainty’ in the behavior of a person.

He is forced under such conditions to lose confidence in all the things that are done normally in a day to day life. Conditions may further worsen when the affected person enters in such a state where he is unable to make in decisions all by himself. It becomes a grave difficulty even to take in small decisions catering to normal things of daily life. This is known as the point of ‘decision-making paralyses’ where there is instability in any kind of decision taken.

Consequences Faced

Verbal abuse is strongly correlated to psychological abuse where the person affected is bound to enter a stage of depression due to mental or emotional trauma. This set of behavior leads to what is known as emotional or mental abuse. This has often been linked with chronic depression, anxiety or a ‘post-traumatic’ stress and anger in an individual. Those who abuse others verbally or emotionally tend to share common characteristic traits among them.

They are mostly short tempered, aggressive, jealous and suspecting in their nature suffering from high mood swings. They are also very violent in their behavior having a minimal of self control within themselves. The victim or the sufferer of a verbal abuse has to face consequences such as loss of trust among the couple and failing to rely on the spontaneity of the other partner of the respective relation. There is no trace of enthusiasm that is left in the couple any more.

The affected couple suffers from consequences such as lack of interest from one another. The one who dominates does not let the other one live freely in the very presence of the superior one. The victim starts to wrap up himself into fixed domains leading to a very composed and depressing livelihood of the individual. The victim often lands up believing that there is no more belief and love that is left in their lifetime relationship.

The respect for one another gets transformed to fear and discourage to share things together and spend time together. A sufferer of the couple starts thinking that there isn’t any more bond left between the two and starts searching for the ways to get off the burden of the relationship. The partner who is affected from verbal abuse soon becomes hesitant in the acceptance of certain perceptions of the one who dominates the relation.

Affect in the Relationship

In the emotional aspect, one can say that a verbal abuse is very unhealthy for a couple. It has like chances of making the other partner who is dating in that relation that their relation has grown very unsafe. There are favorable chances that one becomes highly traumatized when conditions run out of hand. The grief, remorse, guilt, depression and anger are the emotions that cannot be left without consideration.

One of the most toughest thing of a relation for the partners who are dating each other is that the abuse is expressed by one of the partner who is undoubtedly in love with the other in that respective couple. The feeling of love soon fades off in the relation and when situations run out of control, the relation is broken apart due to lack of love, care and trust in it. There might also be some physical changes that are the direct consequences of any verbal abuse. The sufferer starts to get headaches and fatigue as he becomes emotionally very weak.

This directly affects the health of the victim. It has favorable chances that might lead to cardiovascular troubles in the victim of it. The best way is to move out of the relationship such that the victim stops himself from being exposed time and again from the cruelty of the abuser.
