There is no age to get fit
There is no denying, our bodies change as we get older and this makes being active more challenging. You may not be able to become a body builder or a marathon runner but you will be able to walk the stairs easily, improve your balance and play with your grand children.
Some excuses and their solutions:
“I don’t have time”:
This is the most common excuse. According to researchers people who give this excuse are the ones spending hours chatting on phones or watching TV. Just a thirty minute exercise done everyday is enough. If you don’t find time, you can divide it into ten minute segments. You will get almost the same benefit.
“I’m not fat”:
Exercise is not only for loosing weight. It improves our over all health. You will find people who are thin but unhealthy, they get tired easily. You need to work towards achieving your target heart rate while exercising.
“ I’m too old”:
Exercise is an age less activity. You’re energy level get high, you feel healthy and can age gracefully. Infact, it becomes more important to exercise in the later age.
“I tried but I failed”:
After you have failed it becomes difficult to motivate yourself. Try to set small goals. Like “I will exercise thrice a week” Maybe you were trying to do too much too quickly or you had set unrealistic goals for yourself.
“I don’t have the money or there is no gym near my house”
There is no need to go to a fancy gym or buy fancy gears to exercise, you can jump a rope, go cycling or take a brisk walk in your nearby park.There are countless other activities to choose from like, walking, dancing, playing with your children, gardening, playing baseball etc. Anything which makes you active is good enough. If still you don’t feel like exercising, work out with your buddy.
You will feel that there is a solution for every excuse. It is time to face your excuses head on so that you can overcome them and choose to live a healthier lifestyle.
