The overpronators are rolled inwards with heel strike. Such feet require stable shoes for running. In the supinators the feet roll outward with heel strike. Such feet require cushioning for shock absorption.

Most of the shoe stores have analysis for the foot and depending on that you can make the right choices. The foot is analyzed on computer monitored surface while the foot is checked in motion while running over a treadmill.
While buying the shoes see that you shop later in the day as the feet generally swells during the day time. While standing, measure both the feet. Try with the socks on and walk with both the shoes on. Sometimes both the feet may not be the same size then buy in accordance to the large foot. Pick the shoes that are snug and comfortable. In case they hurt avoid buying them. The shoe must go well with the foot type and the walking or running style. See that it is cushioned well from inside. Long runs must be avoided in new shoes. Begin with short rounds, check for any blister or hot spots.
