Tips To Control Your Anger

We are generally born with many different emotions. Anger is one of the negative emotions that often affect our life adversely. Anger in proper situations and restricted amount is not wrong but when it becomes chronic it has an adverse impact on our relationship with others. Uncontrolled anger affects our health severely. It increases our anxiety and headaches, elevates our blood pressure, and increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, depression, cancer and other health problems.

If you don’t control your anger, it may lead to physical fight, arguments, and assault. Often people try to manage their anger by adopting health-endangering behavior such as drinking and smoking, overeating, taking sedatives and drugs. On the other hand if you manage your anger well, you can convert it into constructive emotion. Given below are some helpful tips to control your anger.

When you are on the verge of getting angry, your mind is not in its normal state. If you start arguments at this moment, it may lead to fights and you may hurt your body. Ask yourself ‘will my anger solve this’. The answer will always be a big ‘no’ because anger can solve practically nothing. Anger is efficient in making the matter worse and causing damage to your health. Hence the best option is to stay calm. You can better solve your problem by talking the matter with the concerned person with a clear mind. Count to ten before reacting angrily. This will calm your mind. You can express your anger in a healthy way when you are calm. It is even better to walk away at this moment.

When you feel angry on some matter, try to understand the cause behind it and then deal with the real situation. When you understand the actual cause you can take proper steps to resolve the matter. You can talk and share your anger to a friend whom you can trust. But talk with certain limitations because if you over share, it may lead to different opinions and advices.

Instead of holding a grudge against someone, you must try to forgive that person and forget his unpleasant acts. Relax by listening to music, exercising, and practicing deep-breathing exercises. You can use your sense of humor to lighten the situation and release tensions. Punching a punching bag by imagining it to be your enemy can also lower down your anger.
