Brain is one of the most important organs of your body. It is your brain which makes you different from others. But due to many reasons, your brain may be affected severely which may lead to serious problems. Memory disorders are related to brain. Memory problems disrupt one’s life to great extent. In this case, sometimes you don’t remember where had you kept your keys, spectacles or where had you parked your vehicle or what was the name of the person you had met a few minutes ago. Alzheimer’s disease – Memory loss can be caused due to various reasons. Alzheimer disease, stroke in the brain, seizures, diabetes, hypertension, vitamin deficiency, injury, depression etc are some factors responsible for memory loss. In some cases, memory loss is also a sign of approaching Alzheimer’s disease.

Amnesia – Amnesia is a kind of memory disorders. This condition arises due to the side effects of some medicines, excessive usage of alcohol or drugs, deficiencies of some vital nutrients, thyroid disorder etc. Amnesia may also be caused due to isolated damage to your brain. Amnesia can be temporary as well permanent. In amnesia people are unable to recall events. They are unable to learn new things.

Aphasia – Aphasia is also a kind of memory disorder. In this condition, the sufferer is unable to articulate his/her thoughts due to loss of memory.

Brain Tumors – Brain tumors are also responsible for memory loss. Glioms are the main tumors that are responsible for memory loss. Such glioms develop in the glial cells of one’s brain. However, such tumors can be surgically removed.

Dementia – Dementia is another major type of memory disorders. In this condition the patient is unable to think, plan, recall or reason out. The patient cannot keep new ideas and things into his/her brain. The patient is not able to remember new phone numbers and forgets how to get to a new place. Dementia patient doesn’t understand what he/she is doing and where has he/she reached and for what purpose. Though many diseases are responsible for dementia, Alzheimer’s disease is the main culprit behind it. When your brain cells start getting damaged due to any disease you are overtaken by dementia.

Not all, but some memory problems may be minimized through mental exercise, healthy diet and medications.
