Types Of Insomnia

Insomnia is actually a disorder related with sleep. In this condition the person is not able to get adequate amount of sleep.

There are numerous types of insomnia:-

Mild insomnia- it is also known as transient insomnia. In this the disturbance lasts for few nights. One can see that the regular functioning of the body is not impaired.

Moderate insomnia- it is also known as short term insomnia. In this condition difficulties in sleep are registered less then a month or for one month. Fatigue, exhaustion and irritability are found during the day.

Severe insomnia- it is the chronic form of insomnia. In this the difficulties in sleep and sleeping patterns last for more than a month. It affects the normal functioning of the body in adverse manner. Strong feelings of restlessness, irritability, anxiety, fatigue and depression may result on account of it.

Sleep onset insomnia- it is also known as delayed sleep phase syndrome. In this disorder in which the major sleep gets delayed in relation with the seep timings. And the person may find difficulty in to awake at the required time.

Idiopathic insomnia- in this kind of insomnia the disability to sleep properly rests for life long time. It happens basically due to abnormality in the neurological control especially in the sleep-wake system. It remains for long period of time in human’s life.

Limit-setting sleep disorder- this is also known as childhood insomnia. It happens due to inadequate enforcement of hitting the bed due to other major disturbing factors.

Food allergy insomnia- this gets triggered due to the allergic response to the food one consumes. This happens sometimes with the introduction of new drink or ingredient in food.

Environmental sleep disorder- this is also known as environmental insomnia. The disturbances in sleep may result on account of environmental factors.

Altitude insomnia- it is a short but sharp course of insomnia. It is mostly accompanied by headaches, loss of appetite and fatigue. It results with the high ascent to altitude.

Hypnotic-dependent sleep disorder- it is also known as hypnotic dependency insomnia. It can lead to excessive sleepiness or insomnia that happens with the withdrawal of hypnotic medicines.

Stimulant dependent sleep disorder- in this there is reduction of sleepiness due to certain stimulants.

Toxin induced sleep insomnia- it happens due to sleepiness or insomnias due to the heavy metals and organic toxins.

Alcohol dependent insomnia- as the name suggests, it is assisted initiation of sleep. This happens with the ingestion of alcohol.
