Various Causes of Chest Pain
Anyone can get chest pain anytime. Hear attack is one of the major causes of chest pain but chest pain is not always due to heart attack. There can be various other reasons which may be simple. Given below are various causes of chest pain.Digestive Causes: Heartburn is one of the most common causes of chest pain. In this case your stomach acid rises up in your esophagus that causes heartburn. Esophageal spasm is another cause of heartburn.
In this case there is spasm in your esophagus which makes swallowing hard and aching that eventually causes chest pain. When stomach, after having meal, slides up above the diaphragm into the chest, chest pain is caused which is called as hiatal hernia.
Sometimes your lower esophagus fails to give way to the food you eat. Thus your food is unable to get into your stomach. In such case your food returns back up into your esophagus which causes chest pain. This condition is called achalasia. Sometimes your pancreas or gallbladder (cholecystitis) gives you acute pain in the abdomen when it is inflamed. This pain spread up to your chest which causes chest pain.
Cardiac Causes: There are many cardiac causes such as heart attack, angina, aortic dissection, coronary spasm, Pericarditis etc which cause chest pain.
If you have blood clotting problem you may get chest pain due to pulmonary embolism. In this case blood clot travels throughout the bloodstream and sometimes enters into the lungs or blocks the blood vessels which supplies blood to the lungs. Thus chest pain is caused. This could be dangerous and you need immediate medical help.
There are musculoskeletal causes such as costochondritis, sore muscles and injured ribs which also give rise to chest pain. There are various other causes also for chest pain such as panic attack, shingles, cancer and other severe diseases.
If you experience severe chest pain which seems to press your chest, crush or squeeze and there is no relief for more than one minute you should immediately seek medical help. Also if pain seems to move into your neck or left shoulder, it may be a serious case. You should immediately get admitted to your nearest hospital. In such case you should never drive yourself.
