What Are Stretch Marks And Ways To Treat It
When the skin gets stretched to extreme limit then it results in stretch marks. It could remain or disappear over a period of time, if regular care is taken. There are other measures to get it removed too. Stretch marks are basically scars that are deep and they appear like stripes on the skin surface. Some of the common places that get stretch marks are stomach, legs, underarms, breasts, hips, thighs etc.
The causes could be numerous and it prevents the skin to get back into its normal condition. This could be due to obesity, pregnancy and hormonal changes in adolescents whose rapid growth may result in unfavorable stretch marks.
Prevention and treatment of stretch marks
Stretch marks are, in fact, minute fibers that get frayed on account of excessive stretching beyond the skin’s elastic limit. Though numerous products are available to treat the stretched skin, but there is no remedy to cure this condition fully. However in due course of time with the application of creams and products made for this may lighten the marks.
The course may depend on the extent of scars and severity and the location. One of the common practices to remove stretch marks is through exfoliation. This is done to remove dead skin of the top layer, divulging soft fresh skin underneath. This to a large extent minimizes the appearance of stretch marks.
Some of the best home remedies are oatmeal or baking soda scrub. Some of the stores even have organically grown varieties and other form of exfoliating products. Some of them have aromatic quality too. After exfoliation, the skin has to be hydrated with intake of water and juices. The exfoliated surface could be nourished with deep-penetrating cream or lotion. One can apply olive oil, baby oil, coconut oil or vitamin E oil to replenish the lost moisture.
For new stretch marks, oils rich with extracts of jojoba, aloe Vera or cocoa butter is recommended. This will reduce the marks in due course of time. Temporarily one can make use of corrective make up to cover the flaws but it should have a natural base. This will not irritate the skin and will minimize the stretch appearance.
