What are the Causes of Stomach Cancer?

Also food that is low in fiber and high in starch content, drinking alcohol and smoking can lead to stomach cancer.
Studies reveal that the bacterium known as helicobacter pylori can lead to inflammation in the lining of the stomach. This can further lead to ulcers and in this condition remain for long term then the chronic infection can cause cancer. Also it has been noted that people with previous surgery in the stomach or any other major condition of the stomach have more chances of developing stomach cancers. The polyps are the benign growth in the lining of the stomach. The polyps are not cancerous ones but some may change and become cancerous in the longer run.
The abnormal gene responsible for this cancer remains to be identified. It has been observed to run in families. Apart from it people with certain inherited disorders are also likely to develop stomach cancer in the long run. Also it has been noticed that people with blood group “A” have more chances of stomach cancer the reason still are unknown.
Diet consumed more of smoked food and unsalted food show more risk of cancer. Some foods may also contain nitrites which are harmful as they get converted into carcinogens once they get into the stomach. Lack of vitamin C and other fruits and vegetables can lead to stomach cancer. People who are addicted to smoking as well as drinking are more prone to stomach cancer.
The cancer happens when the lining of the stomach changes. This part is responsible for the fluid and other acidic secretion. This is the most complicated layer as the organ produces the strong acids at the same time it has to safeguard the lining from being damaged. The surface is covered with abundant delicate cells, which live only for few days after which they drop inside the stomach. They are then frequently replaced by the new generated cells. All this is closely governed by the body. Each and every cell is important for the entire functioning of the stomach.
