What Are Women Hormones?
Hormones play vital roles and have great influence on our body system. They take care of our health and control our behavior. Hormones affect women’s body significantly and their deficiency can lead to mood swings, depression, and lack of sex drive. On the contrary sufficient amount of hormones present in a woman’s body can make a happier woman with healthy breasts, no menstrual problems or pregnancy or delivery related problems.
Hormones affect a girl not only during her puberty but also during her childhood. Estrogen is a female hormone, which is responsible for breast development in girls. Lack of estrogen hormone generally leads to underdeveloped breasts in women. Underdeveloped or small breasts can influence a woman’s life adversely and she might lose her confidence.
Estrogen and progesterone are two vital hormones present in women (which are produced by their ovaries). These hormones are responsible for most female functions in women’s bodies. After a girl achieves puberty, it is the estrogen hormone responsible for her breast development and the fallopian tubes, vagina, uterus etc gradually mature due to this hormone.
Estrogen hormone plays a crucial role in distributing fat in a girl’s body. This hormone knows that it has to deposit more fats on girl’s buttocks, hips and thighs.Testosterone is a male hormone, but it is also present in female in low amount, and is responsible for muscle building, strong bones and teeth.
After attaining puberty, a girl experiences periods which is due to the hormones estrogen, progesterone, LH (luteinizing hormone) and FSH (follicle stimulating hormone). Due to these hormones, you can experience smooth menstrual cycles; but if any hormone is present in low amount you will face menstrual problems.
To sustain pregnancy, human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG) is produced, which is a new hormone produced by the placenta. This hormone causes your ovaries to release estrogen and progesterone in more quantity to avoid any complication during your pregnancy.
After the delivery, the levels of two important hormones such as estrogen and progesterone are reduced to great extent which causes many changes in the mother so that her womb could shrink back to its normal size.
During menopause, estrogen levels fall rapidly which causes depression, osteoporosis, and mood swings etc. You should consult your doctor to maintain proper levels of hormones in your body.
