What Causes Breast Lumps?

Most of the women complain of breast lumps at least one time in their lifetime. It has been observed that nine out of ten are benign; they are not the cancerous kind. These benign lumps can be on account of cyst formation or even due to fibroadenomas. Thus one can define breast lumps as new tissues that are more solid then the previous ones. The Cyst are fluid sacs that gets formed in the breast tissue while, fibroadenomas are fibrous glands and tissue, they are solid in nature.

Causes of breast lumps-
The two basic reasons for lumps are cyst formation and fibroadenomas.

Fibro adenomas-
One cannot define fibroadenomas as an ailment or condition, but they are actually overgrowth of lobules. This condition is more prevalent among women under age 30. These fibroadenomas are free to move inside the breast. They can be diagnosed with various examinations and ultrasound. It has been observed that these fibroadenomas lumps disappear in one or two years. But sometimes it needs surgery to be removed; this can be done if the lump is getting bigger.

Cysts-
The cysts are larger enough to be seen from naked eye. These cysts can be found in females of age group 40-50 and they are extremely painful. The cysts are nothing but aged lobules. Cysts can be diagnosed by inserting a needle or with ultrasound. The fluid that comes out from the cysts can be yellow or green and even blue-black. Sometimes if the fluid is accompanied with blood stains then it is sent for tests.

For every women lump formation in breasts can be a matter of great concern. Most of the cysts happen due to woman’s imbalance in hormonal cycle especially in their child bearing years. Diet plays an important role in the formation of these painful nodules. These lumps mostly occur in the outer quadrant or in both the breasts.

Without diagnosis and proper examination it is not possible to say that the lumps are benign or cancerous. One can identify the benign lumps with its characteristic qualities. These benign lesions can have lipoma, hematoma, nodules fasciitis, giant hypertrophy, abscess, adenolipoma, mastitis, and fat necrosis, cyst with parasites, mondor’s disease and even glactocele.
