What Causes Labor Pain?
Have you have wondered what causes labor pain? Well the new moms-to-be can heave a sigh of relief. It is good news for the new expectant mothers. The latest buzz among the researchers in this field is that, researchers have successfully found what causes the labor pain. It is indeed a breakthrough as with this advancement, they could soon be able to develop some ways and methods to alleviate the pain. This study could be used as the basis of new research for the further expansion and development in field of science and medicine.
It is a well-known fact that childbirth is a painful process. A team of Karlinska Institute conducted this research, and they have been successful in determining the root cause of labor pain. They found that the labor pains mainly derived from the cervix. Here in the cervix the nerve fibers and receptors are much more and greater than in the uterus at the final months of the last trimester.
The study further throws light on the pain sensitivity in the uterine varies among the pregnant and the non-pregnant females. In the later case the entire uterus is pain-sensitive, where as in the former case the pain sensitive nerve fiber that are responsible for generating pain disappears completely from the uterus but stays in the cervix.
It is believed and practiced that spinal anesthesia is the most effective way in providing pain relief. Though it is very demanding, it has its own drawbacks and practicability is also limited. But whatever research that has been done would be a turning point in the history of human health. With this development, soon ways and medicines could be developed that would make the entire childbirth process easier.
