What is Impetigo?
Impetigo is a skin condition that happens due to Streptococcus and staphylococcus bacteria. This kind of skin infection is mostly seen among kids. This happens due to insect bites especially in summer. Most of the people may opine that impetigo is due to lack of cleanliness which is not so. One can find it in the form of clustered bumps with blusters. The blisters in due course of time may ooze. The places that are mostly affected are the nose, mouth and the exposed parts. This condition is extremely contagious due to the bacteria. But the condition may also result in the adults with skin ailments like eczema. The condition may also develop with sores, cuts making way for the bacteria to enter.
Symptoms of impetigo-
The symptoms are associated with itchy red patch along with skin inflammation. This patch may develop easily into a blister with yellow watery fluid. In due course of time the blister develops hard crust and ooze, these further results in development of new blisters. The bumps can burst easily as the skin is tender and moist. Under extremities the person may develop fever with swelling in face and neck.
There are basically two types of impetigo, bullous and regular. The regular impetigo is distinguished with pimples with pus which happens due to strep germs, it is scabby too. It is also known as impetigo vulgaris. Another name of the condition is streptococcal impetigo. The other condition the bullous impetigo may result in the development of blisters that are fragile. This condition basically happens due to staph germs. Not only the face but the other body parts are also affected with it. The blisters that are formed in this kind collapse due to thin walls. The base is very moist, red and inflamed. Another name of the condition is impetigo bullosa or staphylococcal impetigo.
