When to Say ‘I Love You’

‘I love you’ are three of the most powerful words in the English language. They have the command to both make and break a relationship. We often wonder the right time to blurt these words out in a liaison. Well, it’s tricky because most of us tend to not see the whole picture before making such a commitment. Here are a few things that should be kept in mind.

The most important thing is the timing. Saying these words too early in a relationship can prove to be very embarrassing for you and fatal for the relationship; embarrassing in the sense that you may not get the same response from your partner. In fact the response could be so cold that it may want you to bury yourself inside the sand out of humiliation. Usually early ‘I love you’ leads to bad and abrupt breakups. Hence, choose the timing very closely.

Not telling your partner how you feel when you are way into the relationship can also be equally fatal. When you know that you are really compatible someone, you have been there with one another long enough to realize that you are in love, then its time you say it. Not saying it can bring in a lot of insecurities and frustrations which eventually lead to bad breakups.

There is another thing that should be considered before being generous with those three words. Do not say them when you have your blinds on. Not literally but in a figurative way. Sometimes we are so awe struck by someone that we tend to over look their bad habits and the other negatives.

We commit to them completely and when gradually the blinds open, we realize that we are no longer in love. Hence, be very sure about your emotions. When you know that you love the person even after knowing and accepting their negatives, it’s only then that you should say—‘I love you’.

Also choose the venue of confession very watchfully. You don’t want to say it when you are badly drunk, during or after sex and also through text. Saying it for the first time should be more personal and should be said looking your partner right in the eye.
