Workout Myths
There are certain myths regarding workouts which need to be busted. Like, sit-ups can flatten a pot belly. First of all you need to realize that no exercise can make you loose weight from one particular part of the body because there is no such thing as spot reduction. The energy required for the exercise comes from all over the body and the weight loss also will be all over the body.
Many women think that doing weights can make them look like body builders. A woman can never make a body like a man because of low level of testosterone, a male sex hormone which is also responsible for increasing muscles. It requires special diets and long hours of workouts for women to make bodies. In fact muscles make you loose weight.
Another thing which people believe is– proteins can build muscles, and out of this belief they start taking proteins in excess. But this is a mistake. Although proteins are required to build muscles but only if you are exercising. Muscles cannot build on their own by just eating proteins. Even when you are exercising you need one gram of protein per kilo of weight. Eating too much of proteins can cause kidney problems and even expand your fat cells.
Another thing which you should be aware of is that fat and muscles are two different things. If you stop exercising, your muscle will not turn into fat or vice versa. If you don’t loose fat and start building your muscles you will get a bloated kind of a look. For lean and toned physique you need to control your fat intake and exercise properly.
There is another misconception that– the longer you work out at gym, the fitter you become. This is not true. By over exercising you can damage your muscles, which can be permanent sometimes. Remember, your exercise should be effective and regular. You don’t need quantity but quality drink.
