Writing a Love Letter
With the dawn of technological advancements, romance has taken a new road altogether. Love letters are no longer in fashion it seems. Text messages and emails have replaced the age old formula of telling your loved one how much you love her. If you ask me, a love letter written by you is a very romantic alternative to an email and I guarantee you that your beloved will love the gesture.
What you need to do at first is get classy stationery. The paper should be classy if not costly and should be apt for a love letter. No one would like to read a love letter written with an ordinary pen in illegible handwriting and that too on say office stationery. So you’d better get some nice and classy paper and also a good pen with classy ink.
Work on your handwriting. Make it legible at least. The suggestion would be to hire a calligrapher but I’d say your handwriting would be more appreciated by your loved one.
The salutation should not be formal and totally impersonal. You should always opt for things like ‘dearest’ or ‘to the one to whom I have bestowed my heart’ or something like that. If you call her by any special name, you can just address her with that too. also, end the letter with something romantic and don’t be so lame as to write ‘regards’ or ‘sincerely yours’. ‘Forever yours’ might be a wee bit better you know.
The content of the letter should be your heartfelt feelings. You don’t need to include prose or poetry if you are not a literature kind of person. You don’t need flowery language or substance to woo your partner all the time. Sometimes, all they need is to know how you feel about them. The sincere and honest feelings do the trick.
Love letters have been the symbol of romance since times immemorial and do not trivialize it by writing it in sms lingo or bad grammar. Also, do not crib about your day if you are at a loss for words. This isn’t a phone call. If you run out of your feelings (and that is quite questionable), then you can always resort to praising him or her, write exactly what you love about him or her.
Now go buy stationery. Get to work .
