Every person in their daily lives is bound to become angry. The reason may be a very petty one or seriously a major issue. The challenge lies in the fact that how you are able to manage your temper and thereby keep the one’s surrounding you happy- particularly you. If you are desperately looking for some means to restrict your temper, surely you have hit the right place. Given below are the essential guidelines for improving your management techniques.
Firstly you need to absolutely calm down remain alone for at least sometime. Make this clear to the ones around you in a polite manner. Then take off your shoes and start going through a journal or any reading material; whatever makes you feel comfortable.
Try to find out the reason behind losing your temper. Is it your colleagues company that is irritating you? Or you are failing to live up to the expectations? Or is it the usual stress or tension that is taking its toll? Pen these down on a piece of paper.
After this, try to recapitulate. Was it that you were yelling or hurling around things or just sitting passively? For each situation rate yourself within the range of 1-5. Point 1 should be linked with slight uneasiness along with anger and point 5 being linked with uncontrolled anger.
Think over the incident and try to find out the possible causes behind it. Is it because you were asked to do something that you did not prefer to do? Or because someone spoke unkindly of you? Or was it that you failed to reach at time?
Now just take some time off. Put all your paper, pen and etc. down and lay back to relax. If you feel, you can take a stroll or just get back to finish the writing that you had begun.
After your mind has settled, sit quietly and think over what you wrote and apply it to prepare a strategy. What will you do the next time you get angry? Apply the method of STOP.
S- Just stop doing whatever you were engaged in and rush to some place where you will find tranquility. T- Jot down specifically the reason behind your being angry. O- Let your mind relax for some time and quiet it. P- Once you calm down, decide your strategy.
Try to realize the fact that everything cannot function the way you want it to and thus you might get terribly angry. Always follow the practice of taking a deep breath and stay away from the site and get back only when you feel you will be able to handle it.
