Effective Home Remedies For Plantar WartsPlantar warts are a type of viral infection. Under the required environmental conditions, a virus may attach itself to a particular place on the skin and start growing in numbers. This rapid multiplication of the virus is what leads to formation of plantar warts.

Plantar warts mainly occur on the soles of the feet though they can also make a rare appearance in between the fingers of the hands. They are a painful condition and need to be treated immediately to arrest the spread of infection.

Effective Home Remedies for Plantar Warts

The most effective way of getting rid of plantar wart and its virus is by using garlic. Garlic is a known anti-oxidant that helps fight bacterial, viral as well as fungal infection. Crush 3-4 pods of garlic and apply them directly on the plantar wart. Secure the crushed garlic using medicated gauze.

Keep the medicated gauze on for at least 4 hours. Throw away the gauze and garlic and wait for 20 minutes before re-applying freshly crushed garlic. Do this treatment at least thrice a day for a period of six weeks. Garlic will not only help get rid of the plantar warts but also eliminate the infection causing virus from the skin.

Tea Tree Essential Oil

Tea tree essential oil has anti-oxidant properties that helps treat viral infections. Dilute tea tree oil with a little olive oil before use. Take half teaspoon of olive oil and 6-7 drops of tea tree essential oil. Mix the two oils well. Apply the mixture of oils directly on the wart. Massage the oil on the plantar warts for at least half a minute. Wear a pair of cotton socks or wrap the foot with medicated gauze.

Tea Tree Oil

You can even apply cotton dipped in tea tree oil over the plantar wart. Taking foot baths of tea tree essential oil will also help cure the infection. Take a small basin and fill it with warm water. Add 10 drops of tea tree oil in the water and soak your plantar wart infected foot in this bath. Leave the foot in the bath for at least 15 minutes. Dry the foot immediately on removal from the basin. Leaving the wart wet can cause the viruses to grow rapidly.

White Vinegar

The ascetic acid properties of white vinegar are very effective in removing infection caused by viruses. Prepare a foot soak of white vinegar and water. Add one cup white vinegar in two cups of water and soak your foot in the mixture. Leave the foot in the mixture for 15-20 minutes. Dry the foot as soon as you remove it from the soak. The soak can be done as many times during the day as you want.

White Vinegar

Alternatively, you could also soak piece of cotton wool in white vinegar and apply it directly on the plantar wart. Secure the cotton with medicated gauze or medicated tape. Leave for a couple of hours. Throw away the cotton and re-apply white vinegar on the wart. Do this treatment four times a day for a period of eight weeks to get rid of the infection completely.
